Video conferencing goes all-Dante with Lumens' network transcoder

April 30, 2025

Hsinchu, Taiwan, April 30, 2025 – Lumens Digital Optics Inc. has today announced that its OIP-N40E IP transcoder is now Dante Ready. This enables it to route and convert Dante video and transmit Dante audio bi-directionally over a standard Ethernet network. A Dante license transforms the Lumens mini device into a powerful integration tool for AV installers, helping customers save considerable time, money and ongoing support costs.

OIP-N40E provides a USB-C port with DisplayPort support, enabling IP and Dante AV-H cameras to transmit video to a USB-connected laptop for use in Teams and Zoom calls. Moreover, installed Dante microphones can be routed via the OIP-N40E to the computer while the remote audio is played out to the room’s Dante speakers.

“Our partnership with Audinate and its Dante ecosystem will help installers work real magic.” Commented Steven Liang, Head of Product Development at Lumens. “In typical meeting spaces, a Dante-enabled OIP-N40E can dramatically reduce conversion levels and simplify control, management and routing using just the Dante Controller interface. By going all-IP, we can remove the need for further multiple codecs, encoders, decoders, transmitters and adapters, significantly reducing system complexity.”

OIP-N40E delivers a secure plug and play experience to meeting room users. Leveraging DisplayPort, UVC and UAC standards, the device is recognized as a USB video and audio source. No drivers, adapters or software are required.

OIP-N40E is part of a growing family of Dante products from Lumens which includes the VC-TR60A Dante AV-H voice-tracking 4K PTZ camera and the OIP-N60D Dante AV-H decoder. Both products complement the OIP-N40E to deliver a complete Dante capture, conversion and transmission workflow. This includes sending high quality IP video streams over a network, and sending the laptop’s video output to large format monitors installed across the LAN.

OIP-N40E is shipping now with the Dante license available through Audinate’s Dante Controller software. The new features are available with the installation of the latest firmware which can be downloaded from the Lumens website.
